Moms Have it Tougher Than Dads: What We Found in Thousands of Working Parent Surveys
Based on surveys compiled by 'Great Place to Work', parenthood benefits fathers but places mothers at a disadvantage in the workplace. The surveys found that Women saw fewer opportunities regarding career development post-childbirth, while men saw their wages increase. A similar experiment showed that men who listed involvement in parent-teacher organizations were more likely to hear back from a prospective employer after an interview, while women were less likely. In accordance with these studies, the list of Best Workplaces created by Fortune's Great Place to Work strongly emphasizes the support which companies provide for working parents.
