Monthlong strike begins at Freeport Indonesia
Thousands of workers at a gold and copper mine in Indonesia, one of the world's biggest, have begun a month long strike. The strike is over low wages, which the union says that they are hoping to increase, though the company says that they have offered a package that includes wage raises, bonuses and other benefits. In July, dozens of mine workers collapsed from dehydration. The union says that 90% of the 12,000 employees were taking part in the strike, which has idled production.
