According to organizers, there are employees pursuing unionization at 54 stores in 19 states. On Monday fifteen of those stores petitioned for a vote. Labor experts believe that as the push for unionization spreads from store to store, “it will be harder for Starbucks to fight each one individually.” In December, Starbucks’ North America president wrote to staff, “we do not want a union between us as partners,” but also said they would bargain in good faith.
