Most local unions support Fla. education grant bid
53 of the 66 Florida districts with unions have signed on to support the state's Race to the Top application, which could lead to a grant of $700 million. 65 of 67 school districts have endorsed the bid. Only five districts endorsed the grant in the first round, mainly due to a provision which linked teacher pay to test scores. The provision is still in the application, but teacher's unions will have a role in working out the details. Florida finished fourth in the first round, with only the top two states receiving grants.
