The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Union has successfully won the right to represent many employees at Chicago cultural landmarks and institutions in recent years. Some of the key landmarks that the union represents are the Art Institute of Chicago and the Field Museum. The most recent addition is the workers at the Museum of Science and Industry after the workers voted in favor of unionizing. The workers had stated that the Museum of Science and Industry management supported anti-union efforts in the past, but after the vote passed, the museum stated that they respect employees’ rights to organize.
