N.H.L. Commissioner Not Impressed With Union's Proposal
The Commissioner of the National Hockey League says that they are far apart from the NHL Players' Association on a contract agreement. The union made initial proposal on Tuesday which included three years of reduced salary increases, changed revenue sharing to help struggling teams. The League has proposed cutting salaries by 24% a year. The union says that the League's proposal is trying to take too much from players, and that they are trying to work with them and address financial issues. The Commissioner says that the League will lockout players if an agreement is not made by the time the contract expires in a month. If a lockout does happen, it will be the third time since 1993.
