N.J. voters support minimum wage increase
New Jersey?s minimum wage will increase by $1 per hour to $8.25 on January 1, 2014. The increase will make New Jersey one of only 18 states to have a minimum wage higher than the federal minimum. The people of New Jersey took the minimum wage measure one step further and amended their constitution to include future increases in the minimum wage based on inflation, placing the state in the company of only 10 others. In the past, the New Jersey Legislature had voted to increase the minimum wage, but it was vetoed by Governor Christie.
