National Education Union set to strike again as teachers continue to demand pay increases in England
Schools across England will be disrupted by the walkouts of teachers and educators, and many schools will be forced to close throughout July due to strikes from the National Education Union. The National Education Union is demanding pay increases that are above the inflation rate, as well as pay raises that do not come from schools’ existing budgets. Teachers are hoping that the wage increases would come from the 2 billion pounds of extra funding and investment that schools across England have received for the 2023-2024 year. The National Education Union has organized teacher walkouts five times since February, but the Department of Education has not worked with the union to reach a resolution. The most recent strike occurred on May 2, and over half of the schools in England were affected by the walkout.
