National Labor Relations Board announces stricter regulations regarding illegal anti-union practices
A new decision from the National Labor Relations Board imposes stricter regulations for companies that interfere with union organizing efforts. If a company is found acting illegally to interfere in union organization and prevent union elections, it will immediately have to participate in bargaining with the union. Previous rules stated union elections had to be held again if the elections were disrupted by company management. The new regulation will make the union election process faster and more fair, and it discourages companies from using illegal and unfair labor practices. In the past, companies would use union avoidance consultants to intimidate employees before union elections, in an effort to decrease the number of unionization votes.
