National Labor Relations Board ruling determines that Dollar General violated federal labor laws
A National Labor Relations Board judge ruled that Dollar General violated federal labor laws. Dollar General attempted to intervene in workers’ rights to unionize at a Connecticut store and wrongfully fired a worker to threaten union organization efforts. The company’s anti-union actions included holding required meetings for employees that attempted to convince workers to vote against union representation and sending corporate officials to various locations that held union drives. Dollar General has also received various penalties for violations of worker safety in the past, as many stores were dangerous working environments that had electrical hazards and obstructed fire exits.
