NBA and its union, the NBPA, nearing the end of labor negotiations regarding players' compensation, draft eligibility rules, and other pro-sport work conditions
The NBA and its Players Association have been reported to be nearing an agreement on ongoing labor negotiations that are quickly approaching the opt-out deadline. Among the disputed issues include financial concerns regarding hard salary caps. To facilitate an agreement, the NBA and union have spoken about making changes to its luxury tax system and its tiers rather than overhauling it. The draft eligibility rules are another issue being negotiated, as the union is pushing for an orientation structure to provide younger players entering the league with a veteran player. Finally, load management is being addressed in this new labor deal, as many star players have missed games in the recent season needing to rest and recover from overwork.
