Netflix reorganization in film division results in layoffs
Daniel Lin, Netflix’s new film chief who took over the position recently, has announced widespread changes to the organization of the company’s film division. Netflix will now separate the film division by genre, and new executives will be overseeing various genre groups. The changes have resulted in the layoff of fifteen executive staffers. One executive will oversee the action, fantasy, horror, and sci-fi genres, another executive will manage the drama, thriller, and family genres, and an additional executive will be in charge of the comedy and rom-com genres. Daniel Lin has worked on several notable projects in the past, including Aladdin and the Lego movie franchise. He previously worked at Rideback before switching to Netflix earlier this month.
