Netflix will offer a year of unlimited maternity or paternity leave for employees, who will be paid normally without requiring them to switch to disability pay. Netflix has upped the ante amongst Silicon Valley employers hoping to attract an increasingly competitive workforce. Google, for example, offers 18 months of maternity leave, while Facebook offers 4 months of paid leave with $4000 cash. Netflix’s latest benefit enhancement is part of a corporate culture prizing “flexibility and responsibility”; its 2,400 employees already receive unlimited vacation time.
