Nevada state employees working for DMW, state welfare, vote in favor of union representation
Thousands of state workers in Nevada have voted in favor of union representation and will be covered by the collective bargaining agreements negotiated between the state and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Union. The employees that participated in the union vote included Department of Motor Vehicle workers and state welfare workers. The union already represents library technicians at all Nevada higher education institutions, and engineering technicians at the Department of Transportation. Nevada granted state employees the right to unionize in 2019, and state employees are separated into eleven different bargaining units. After the vote, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Union will represent four of the bargaining units.
