Nevada teachers seek the right to strike
The Clark County Education Association announced that it is seeking to put a proposal on a 2026 ballot that would give the union the right to go on strike. While it is currently illegal for public employees to go on strike, the teachers union hopes the voters in Nevada will give them that right. This comes after contentious contract negotiations in 2023, during which the union held protests over the summer. A judge would later rule that a strike had occurred, which if upheld could see the union fined up to $50,000 a day and officers $1,000 under the current law.
