New law in Zimbabwe restricts health workers' ability to strike amidst labor shortages in the country's healthcare system
On Tuesday, a new law was passed in Zimbabwe that makes strike actions by healthcare workers illegal. This legislation arises after wage disputes between the government and its health workers. Additionally, there has been a large exodus of nurses and doctors from Zimbabwe which has placed extreme strains on the healthcare system. As a result, this new law restricting organized protests includes punishments such as monetary fines and jail time.
