New union struggles at United Engineers, airline technicians await initial contract
Having voted to join a union in 2002, United Airlines' engineers are still waiting for their new contract to be settled. Just after the union was voted in, United went bankrupt and all bets were off regarding a new contract. On Feb. 1, United entered its post-bankruptcy era, and the engineers say that gives them encouragement that a contract could be near.
