New vaccine mandate for federal employees becomes an issue for some unions
Following president Biden’s vaccine mandate for federal employees, unions like the APWU and the NTEU, that supported Biden’s election, are pushing back. These major unions are voicing concerns about personal freedoms, privacy, and the policy’s practice. A statement from the APWU said “it is not the role of the federal government to mandate vaccinations for the employees we represent.” Meanwhile, some unions like the AFL-CIO said they would support a full vaccine mandate “in order for everyone to feel safe and welcome in their workplaces.”
