A report, published today by the New York Times, found that many nail salon workers are subject to wage theft and slave-like working conditions. These employees, many of which are immigrants, are sometimes paid nothing and subject to physical abuse. The investigation looked into 29 nail salons in New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo has established a task force to resolve these problems.
