New York healthcare workers sue the state over vaccine mandate
New York health care workers are suing the state and bringing their objections to the state’s vaccine mandate to the Supreme Court. A nurse who lost her job because she had religious objections to the mandate and two others who fear loss of employment because of religious objections have brought up the case. They argue that New York State’s mandate that requires all state health care workers to receive the vaccine but only allows exemption for medical reasons and not religious reasons violates their First Amendment rights. Last month the Supreme Court denied a similar request to block Maine’s vaccine mandate.
