New York looking to expand overtime for agricultural workers
In New York, agricultural workers earn overtime after 60 hours of labor and the state is looking to lower that threshold to 40 hours. This would put them in line with California and Washington’s threshold for the industry. Many workers say this is a long time coming and will reduce the stress that comes with the long work hours. Although, farmers are expressing alarm that this change would put many out of business and lower their competitiveness.
