New York plans to replace unvaccinated healthcare workers with the National Guard
New York Governor Kathy Hochul laid out a plan that would declare a state of emergency to increase the supply of healthcare workers. With the mandate’s deadline, that required healthcare workers to be vaccinated, being Monday September 27th, the state expects hospital staffing shortages. Roughly 72,000 healthcare workers have not been fully vaccinated, and hospitals will be terminating healthcare workers who have failed to get the vaccine by the deadline. The state of emergency plan would use National Guard officers with medical training and allow for an influx of professionals from other states and countries.
