NFL veterans seek help for dementia
The number of former NFL players requesting help for dementia and Alzheimer's has increased since the implementation of the Players' Association 's "88" plan. The plan, which provides up to $88,000 in assistance and care for players suffering football-related brain problems, was implemented February 1st, and is administered by both the NFLPA and the league. Cited as a landmark among Alzheimer's activists, the "88" plan has so far identified 103 potential candidates among former players, and received 54 applications to date.
