Nigeria Union Mulls Chevron Strike as Talks Fail
Nigerian officials are anticipating a strike at any time by senior white-collar oil workers after discussions with Chevron Corporation broke down over alleged safety lapses and staffing issues. The union had demanded the dismissal of Fred Nelson, the executive in charge of Nigeria's Chevron unit over allegations that safety standards had plummeted on his watch, and protested the replacement of many Nigerian staff with expatriates.
