Nigerian union strike goes ahead
Despite a number of government concessions, the Nigeria Labour Congress still plans on calling a general strike on Wednesday. Strikes last week led to massive fuel shortages, and while the government has shown a willingness to repeal some measures that have drawn the unions' ire, such as increases to fuel prices and value-added tax, the refusal to reverse the sale of several oil refineries has led to the current impasse.
