Nike workers claim military paid to intimidate them
Indonesian workers at a Nike supplier factory say that members of the military were hired to intimidate them to work for less money. Millions of workers struck last year over pay and cost of living increases, leading the government to raise the minimum wage. Workers say that they were forced to sign a petition asking the factory to be exempted from the changes. If the factory is exempted, workers will be paid $3.70 a day. Nike said that they adhere to minimum wage requirements, and that they were investigating.
