No deal reached as SEPTA strike enters 2nd day
Following the rejection of SEPTA's first contract proposal since the Philadelphia's transit workers began picketing, the strike has continued into its second day. The transit strike has halted almost all forms of public transportation in the city, including trolleys, buses, and subways. Picketers also blockaded the Regional Rail train yards yesterday evening, adding to the traffic problems the city is currently facing. According to Richard Lazar, the city’s deputy mayor for labor, the biggest area of contention is SEPTA pensions. The strikers are currently forfeiting their wages and medical insurance until they return to work.
