Nokia, Rautaruukki to be hit by Finnish strike
The Union of Salaried Employees (TU) in Finland announced today that they have scheduled a week-long strike in the first week of December. 2,000 workers in the Finnish technology sector will walk out from Nokia, Rautaruukki, ABB, and STX on December 1st. The union has also said that a second strike may be authorized soon after the start of the new year, if contract talks have still not been wrapped up by then. The union hopes to speed up contract talks with the week-long strikes. Spokespeople from several plants have said that they are prepared for the strikes, and do not have enough TU workers to worry too much about potential strikes. Potential impacts on production have not been assessed anywhere as of yet.
