North Korea Gets Boost as Workers Flood Into Gaeseong: Economy
Over 120 companies and more than 51,000 employees were happy Monday, September 16, as the industrial park in North Korea known as Kaesong or Gaeseong reopened to employees on both sides of the Korean border. The reopening signals improved relations between the two countries as well as being an economic boon to both. South Korea supplies most of the managers and businesses in the complex, while the North supplies the workers. Most of the businesses and workers have already returned, though some of the employers plan to delay restarting their operations.
