North Korean Toil in Slavelike Conditions Abroad, Rights Groups Say
North Korean workers have jumped at the chance to leave their country and work abroad at factories across the globe in countries such as Russia and China. Labor rights groups have accused North Korea of sending citizens to other countries to be exploited, often working 12 hours a day in strenuous jobs. It is estimated that nearly 100,000 North Koreans have been sent abroad to work, while their government is paid up to $230 million a year.
