Northwest Plans to Recall Hundreds of Furloughed Pilots
In a move seemingly at odds with statements made over the summer, Northwest Airlines has contacted over 400 furloughed pilots, asking them to return to work. The airline had told the pilots? union in August that only 40 to 50 pilots would be recalled, but now claims that an increase in business compounded by the exodus of active-duty pilots has required a drastic revision in their estimates; indeed, Northwest will seek to recall 150 more pilots in the first half of next year.
