Northwest union agrees to wage cuts right at deadline
Northwest Airlines won a seeming victory on Monday, as the union representing their flight attendants agreed to massive wage cuts and rule changes instead of calling for a strike. The airline, which filed for bankruptcy in September, had received permission from the courts to push forward with a contract that had previously been rejected by 80 percent of their flight attendants. The agreement may allow other union contacts, which had been put on hold until the dispute with the flight attendants had been settled, to take effect.
