Norway oil workers threaten strike over pensions
Norwegian oil workers said that if their employer fails to meet their demands around pay, overtime and pension provisions they will go on strike. The company has said that they will not discuss the pension provisions, which the union said is necessary for talks to continue. The strike would escalate over time, and increase in its impact. The union represents about 3,500 oil workers. The government has the power to intervene in the event of strike and has done so in the past. The two sides will meet on Friday.
