Not Everyone in Tech Cheers Visa Program for Foreign Workers
The United States' technology industry relies on over 85,000 foreign workers with H-1B visas. The visas were created to fill specialized positions that could not be filled by qualified American workers. After a draft of President Trump's proposed executive order that would alter the H-1B visa program was leaked last week, tech companies are trying to prepare themselves for change. Critics of the program believe that technology companies are using the visas to outsource their technology divisions and employ cheaper temporary workers.
