NYC Will Bring 80,000 Municipal Workers Back to the Office
With coronavirus cases seeming to stabilize in New York City and vaccinations becoming more widespread, city officials intend to send a message that New York is close to returning to normal. The message is sent through the recent announcement that municipal workers will begin to report to work in person on May 3rd. The new policy is expected to affect about 80,000 employees who have been working remotely, including caseworkers, computer specialists and clerical associates. The rest of the city’s roughly 300,000-person work force, many of them uniformed personnel including police officers, firefighters and sanitation workers, have already been reporting to work sites.
