Obama: Bush government tried to undermine unions
President Obama spoke to labor leaders yesterday, reassuring the union officials that he intends to keep labor a top priority. He criticized the Bush Administration for favoring employers, and promised to ?level the playing field for workers? - an indication that he hasn't forgotten his campaign promise to strengthen the middle class through a strong labor movement. He reminded the audience of the work already accomplished, including three executive orders designed to better protect worker rights. Obama has also undone several of Bush's executive orders. Finally, he guaranteed that labor would always ?have a seat at the table?.
