Obama climate plan seen by environmentalists adding jobs
A report issued by the National Resources Defense Council found that President Obama?s proposed energy plan to minimize carbon-dioxide emissions from power plants could add more jobs to the U.S. economy. The report says that as many as 210,000 jobs could be found in instillation opportunities of new technology. It went on to claim that implementing energy efficiency would reduce carbon emissions from plants by 26 percent over the next decade. Opponents of the plan argue that it could backfire on the economy by increasing the cost of electricity for consumers and discouraging the use of low-cost coal.
