Obama to seek AFL-CIO, labor backing in meetings
Presidential hopeful Barack Obama is moving quickly to unify the nations labor movement behind his campaign by scheduling a meeting with AFL-CIO leaders Wednesday. Although an endorsement by the nation's largest union is a virtual certainty for a Democratic candidate, Obama is hoping to lock up its endorsement early in order to consolidate his support base heading into the Democratic convention.
