Office Building Janitors Back a Strike Over Health Plan Cost
Thousands of janitors and doormen, represented by the Local 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union, voted to authorize
a strike beginning next Friday at 1,000 New York City office buildings. The union has been involved in negotiation with the Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations over health insurance costs. If no agreement is reached, 25,000 building service workers could go on strike next Friday.
