Officials say immigration agents showed up at labor dispute proceedings. California wants them out
California state officials believe that the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents may constitute employer retaliation. According to the state Labor Commissioner’s Office, ICE agents have shown up at two different labor dispute hearings looking to apprehend undocumented workers who had brought claims against their employers, and sought out details of ongoing labor violation investigations in the Los Angeles area. State officials have instructed their staff to prevent ICE agents seeking to apprehend immigrants from entering state offices.
