Ohio Ballot Win for Unions May Not Mean End of Labor Fights
Despite a huge victory in the polls Tuesday in overturning a law drastically diminishing Ohio public employees' collective bargaining rights, labor unions should expect further attacks as city and state governments across the country continue to face budget crises. Experts point out that the sheer effort in money and resources by Ohio's unions to get out the vote could indicate a further weakening of unions, should similar efforts be required in other states, and that the "scapegoating" of public employees for state and municipal budget shortfalls by conservative leaders will likely continue.
