Olympics: RMT union says rail pay deal 'groundbreaking'
The British Rail, Maritime and Transport union has reached an agreement with Network Rail that includes pay raises and other shift payments during the Olympic Games. Both sides said that they were pleased with the deal, and that it would help the Olympics run smoothly. The union said that they were very happy that the company had recognized the importance of transit workers for the games, and that they were happy that they reached an agreement. RMT is also preparing to strike the London Underground next week. The new agreement does not cover Underground employees.
