On Wall Street, a Question of Bias
A discrimination suit brought against Merrill Lynch by financial advisor Glenn D. Capel has underscored the exclusivity of Wall Street. For most of his time with Merrill, Mr. Capel said, he has been the only black financial adviser among about 40 employed there, or indeed anywhere nearby. The race-discrimination case contends that Merrill has systemically limited the opportunities for blacks to succeed as brokers.
