One of Nigeria's Oil Unions to End Strike
Nigeria's oil unions began a national strike last month to protest government increases in fuel prices. The Union of Oil Administrative Workers decided to withdraw from the strike after the government agreed to a moderate decrease in prices. The Nigeria Labor Congress has encouraged all workers to continue with the strike effort until all demands are met. The strike has closed down businesses and government offices in major cities across Nigeria. Union officials have also reported violence on the part of police against strike supporters.
