OU faculty moves toward union
The Faculty Senate, in support of Ohio University Faculty, voted 23-18 for collective bargaining Monday night. The professors have not officially endorsed a union, though a chapter of the American Association of University Professors sometimes advocates on their behalf already. The OU professors are most concerned about inferior wages compared to other university professors, and inflated wages for administrative officials. Many are weighing the possible pros and cons of unionization, with some worrying it would only lead to greater tension between faculty and administrators.
