The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has announced plans to focus its organizing efforts on three fast-growing outsourcing companies. The organizing effort will be difficult given the widely dispersed workforces of the targeted companies, but the SEIU has had success with other hard-to-reach groups such as janitors. Spokespeople for the companies say that they are open to working with organized labor, but that it should be up to employees at each work site to vote on whether to join a union.
