Payrolls in U.S. Rose 192,000 in March, Unemployment 6.7%
Payrolls in the U.S. increased in March by 192,000, more than were gained in either February or January. The growth meant that March was the first month that private employment was greater than pre-recession levels. Even with the growing payrolls, the unemployment rate remained stuck at 6.7%. The labor market participation rate inched up from 63% to 63.2% as 503,000 more people entered the labor market. Average hourly wages fell slightly from $24.31 to $24.30 per hour.
