Payrolls Rose in 34 U.S. States in October, Led by Florida
Payrolls rose in 34 states and unemployment fell in 28 during the month of October. Florida, California, and North Carolina led the country in job gains. Washington and Kentucky showed the biggest declines in payroll numbers with negative 8,100 and negative 12,600 respectively. Nevada had the highest unemployment with 9.3 and North Dakota had the lowest with only 2.7% of people actively looking for employment unable to find it. The U.S. unemployment rate was 7.3% after dropping to a 5-year record low in September.
