Penn State opposes graduate students' effort to unionize
Penn State President Eric Barron released a statement on Monday opposing the unionization effort put forth by graduate students over a month ago. Barron noted specifically that the school opposes unionization because he does not see the university-student relationship as being an employer-employee one. The university was asked to maintain a neutral stance on unionization in February. Penn State's graduate students are pursuing unionization as a way to tackle current low wages, high workload, and high health care costs.
