Pensions anger from unions following Hutton review
A British commission that spent months looking at public sector pensions in Britain announced its recommendations this week. They include raising the retirement age to 65, calculating pension by average career earnings and raising the retirement age for public safety workers like firefighters and police officers. Unions say that if the government implements the proposals they will consider striking. The commission says that their recommendations are reasonable, and that the current system is unsustainable. The government has said that they will consider the proposals.
